An Iranian researcher of Azarab Company in Arak has gained access to the technical know-how for purification and filtering liquid soap used in industrial waste water treatment.

Ghadimi told IRNA that gaining access to such technology helps resolve a great environmental problem that has been faced for several years.

"Industrial Ownership and Companies Registration Organization has already approved the project and necessary environmental permits have also been obtained from the concerned governmental organizations and administrations," he said.

Ghadimi stated that the liquid soap used in treatment of industrial waste water contains a large amount of impurities including oil used in lubrication of industrial machinery and protecting the industrial equipment from corrosion.

If such impurities pave their way to the environment they will pose a great threat.

"According to the official statistical figures, about 30 million liters of liquid soap are dispensed annually that will create a lot of problems if filtering them is mismanaged," he said.

Ghadimi pointed out that design and completing liquid soap filtering system took about three years.

"This system is capable of purifying and filtering 5,000 liters of liquid soap per day. This project cost about $50,000" he said.

Referring to the fact that Azarab Company produces between 180,000 to 200,000 liters of liquid soap per year, dispensed from its industrial water waste, Gadimmi said that the management of such wastes was previously done by storing them in large reservoirs that created a lot of problems.

"In the second phase of filtering process, water is separated from oil and by sending water toward the sand filter, the water becomes ready for the purification process," he said.

Ghadimi said that the remaining waste and oil are send to the purification factories for re-filtering and returning to production cycle once again.

"Through this method of filtering and purification, solidity and acidity of water does not change so that it can be used for irrigation and washing purposes once again after filtering and purification," he added.
